Our goal is to promote national independent filmmaking and develop interest in cinema among the romans.
Heart of RIFF is open to creative people with ability to help each other grow.

OUR MISSION IS TO DISCOVER TALENTED FILMMAKERS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD AND HELP THEM EXPAND THEIR PROJECT POSSIBILITIES.

award winners
Every two months our jury will award the best films in private screenings. Each finalist and winner will receive our official laurels. Bimonthly winners will also receive an official certificate in digital PDF format (on request) and will be posted on our website.

Once a year, a few of the best short films of each month will be selected by a jury to be screened at our public event in Rome. Works included in the screening will be notified 4-6 weeks before the event.

    WHEN WILL BE RIFF EVENT?
    RIFF Event will be held for 4 days at evening and Q&A after screening with authors at 2024, November.
    Daytime will be filled with lectures and art-lunches.

    RULES

    *Term & Rules*
    All films in all genres will be considered.
    We consider a short to be under 40 minutes.
    Filmmakers certify they have the rights to music used in their films.

    *Requirements*
    For Short Films, the films need to be 40 minutes or less.
    We prefer most films sit on the shorter end of that spectrum—the average film we feature is 15-20 minutes.
    For Feature Films, the films need to be at least 50 minutes.

    *Premier Status *
    No premiere status is required.

    *Rights:*
    We require films to have all necessary rights and releases secured for us to feature them. Yes, this includes music.

    *Refund Policy*
    Unfortunately we cannot refund a submission fee once you’ve submitted your film. Please make absolutely sure you want to submit your film before doing so. As with other festivals, your fee is paid for your film to be considered.

    *Event*
    We’ll notify all participants within two months before offline event and inform about specifications needed.
